Returning to Humboldt!
Dear readers,
My wife, Elaine, and I are beyond excited to finally return to the Humboldt Summer Sizzler Comic Con this Saturday, July 1st - Canada Day, for the first time back since the pandemic.
With the exception of 2022, we’ve not missed a single installment of the show and only missed it due to getting the opportunity to debut new graphic novels at 2022’s Toronto Comic Arts Festival; North America’s largest comics-only show.
Anyway, see our full introduction video to Humboldt Summer Sizzler Comic Con below.
Humboldt is a very special place to me, as it is to Elaine too. It’s home away from home.
My introduction to Humboldt was through Elaine, a town where she grew up, went to school, and came of age. A town where my in-laws, her parents, still live to this day; facilitating our regular visits and stays in the small city.
I love nothing more than supporting Humboldt’s local businesses when I visit, any excuse to go for lunch at Johnny’s Bistro, the BV, or Jirafa and I’m there in a shot; not to mention going to see the latest movie at the beautiful movie theatre, Reel Attractions. My latest, and current, headshot/promotional portrait was shot by Humboldt photographer, Richard Jenkins of photography studio, Reflections By Richard.
All of this is to say that Humboldt Summer Sizzler Comic Con is incredibly special to me and I can’t wait for Saturday, where I can’t wait to hopefully see you there and catch up with you.
Where is the show taking place? You’ll find us, along with a wealth of Saskatchewan and Western Canadian comic book talent in the Curling Rink portion of the Elgar Peterson Uniplex. Admission is 100% free and scheduled operating hours can be found here.
Thanks so much,
Mark
